A. Igoni Barrett was born in Port Harcourt, Nigeria, in 1979 and lives in Lagos. He is a winner of the 2005 BBC World Service short story competition, and the recipient of a Chinua Achebe Center Fellowship, a Norman Mailer Center Fellowship, and a Rockefeller Foundation Bellagio Center Residency. His short story collection, Love Is Power, or Something Like That, was published in 2013. In 2014, he was named on the Africa39 list of sub-Saharan African writers under 40 with potential and talent to define future trends in African literature.

Adorah Nworah is an Igbo writer from South-East Nigeria. Her stories have been published in AFREADA and adda magazine. Her short stories, “The Bride” and “Broken English” made the shortlist for the 2019 Commonwealth Writers Short Story Prize and the longlist for the 2018 Short Story Day Africa Prize respectively. She lives in Philadelphia, where she practices real estate finance law and is cat mom to her handsome Napoleon cat.

Aisha Muhammed-Oyebode is a development specialist and human rights activistspecialising in women and girls’ initiatives. Aisha founded and serves as CEO of the Murtala Muhammed Foundation (MMF), a non-governmental organization that promotes good governance and is dedicated to engendering socio-economic change on the African continent. The MMF’s work in disaster risk management focuses particularly on the insurgency and terrorism in North-East Nigeria.

Akbar Hussain lived in Kenya for 7 years. His debut novel, Truth is aFlightless Bird, has been optioned for a television miniseries. Akbar lives in New York, with his wife and three children.

Anaele Ihuoma has worked as a journalist,banker and teacher. His published poetrybooks include: Tongues of Triumph (2003), Song of the Threshing Floor (2006) and Song of the Swallow (2007). A fourth, Whispers of Angels, is currently published online while his play One Day with the Hounds came out early 2018. His poems and short stories have appeared in several publications including Fireflies, The Guardian, Thisday, Ebedi Review, Ana Review, Rivers of Treasure, The Mariner as well as Onomonresua, a tribute to mothers and motherhood. Ihuoma has been a guest on “Bound Copies”, a literary programme of Garden City Radio, Port Harcourt, Nigeria, and “Our Guest” on Radio Verité, Boston, Ma., USA, amongst others. His literary credits include: The Sparrow Poetry Prize in Nigeria, 2009; ANA Bayelsa Centenary Poetry Prize, 2014 and Goethe Institut Literary Prize, 2014. Ihuoma has a Post-Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM) and M.A (Literature in English) both from the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife. He currently teaches at the National Teachers Institute, Port Harcourt.

He is the Co-founder and COO of Venco Africa, building smarter, safer communities across the continent, and the VP, Academic Director & COO of Nova Business School Africa, where he shapes the next generation of African leaders. A former medical doctor turned business educator, Anderson has taught across global institutions, advised governments and C-suite leaders, and coached thousands through life’s crossroads.

Anietie Isong has won several writing prizesincluding the Commonwealth Short Story Award and the inaugural Olaudah Equiano Prize for Fiction. In 2009, his short story
Devotion was selected as one of the exciting new stories from the next generation of English short story writers and published in the anthology,Roads Ahead, edited by Catherine O’Flynn. Anietie studied at the University of Ibadan and the University of Leicester. Radio Sunrise, his first novel, won the McKitterick Prize.

Anote Ajeluorou worked with The Comet (now defunct),The Punch, The Nation and The Guardian, Lagos. He has published a children’s book, Igho Goes to Farm;a poetry collection, Libations for Africa; and, soon-to-be published novella, Brides of Infidels. He also publishes an online arts/culture news platform, www.thearthubng.com.

Arinze Ifeakandu was born in Kano, Nigeria, and currently lives in Tallahassee, Florida. An AKO Caine Prize for African Writing finalist and A Public Space Writing Fellow, he is a graduate of the Iowa Writers’ Workshop. His work has appeared inA Public Space, Guernica, TheKenyon Review, One Story, and Redemption Song and Other Stories: The Caine Prize for African Writing 2018. God’s Children Are Little Broken Things is his first book.

Ayisha is a lawyer and consultant with overeighteen years experience in the public and private sectors. She is a published writer with a series of children’s text books on social studies used in primary schools and a children’s reference book on Nigeria. She kept a weekly column for five years, in Thisday’s The Lawyer newspaper and most recently, as the Nigerian Citizen for the Leadership newspaper where she covered legal and social issues ranging from state sponsored marriages to good governance. Ms. Osori is a regular commentator on radio and television and has been involved in numerous campaigns to improve social justice for women and girls and to improve governance in Nigeria. Ms. Osori, an Eisenhower Fellow, graduated from the University of Lagos and Harvard Law School with degrees in law and has a Masters in Public Administration from the Harvard Kennedy School. She is licensed to practice law in Nigeria and the State of New York.

Professor Ugwushi Bellema “Bell” Ihua (Ph.D., mni) serves as Executive Director at Africa Polling Institute (API), an independent, non-profit, and non-partisan opinion research think-tank based in Abuja, Nigeria. He is an Adjunct Professor at Quincy College, Boston, Massachusetts, USA, a Visiting Professor of Practice in Opinion Research at Coal City University, Enugu, Nigeria, and a Member (mni) of Nigeria’s prestigious National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS), Kuru-Jos, Plateau, Nigeria. Bell holds a Ph.D. in Business Administration and Management from Kent Business School, University of Kent, Canterbury, United Kingdom.

Binyavanga Wainaina was a Kenyan writer who won the Caine Prize for African Writing early in his career in 2002. His books,Discovering Home(2003) andOne Day I Will Write about This Place(2011) were published to critical and popular acclaim. Later in his life, he became an influential champion of gay rights. In April 2014, Time magazine noted Wainaina in its annual Time 100 as one of the ‘Most Influential People in the World’. He died in 2019.

Breanne Mc Ivor is an award-winning writer. Her short story collection,Where There AreMonsters, was published in 2019. Mc Ivor holds degrees in English from the universities of Cambridge and Edinburgh and has a certificate in Advanced Professional Makeup Artistry. She lives in her home country of Trinidad and Tobago.The God of Good Looksis her debut novel.

Cecilia Umoren was born in Ughelli, Nigeria, in 1956 to Mr Bennet andMrs Mary Okafo. She spent a happy and memorable childhood in Jericho Reservation, Ibadan, where neighbours became family and nobody cared about tribe or ethnicity. She moved to Eastern Nigeria with her family as a result of the political crisis in 1967, and continued her education at Queen’s School, Enugu, after the Biafran war. A distinguished Lawyer and Oil and Gas Executive, she is currently the Executive Chairman of Millenium Oil & Gas Company Limited

Chibueze Darlington Anuonye is a literary conversationalist, editor and writer. He is the curator of Selfies and Signatures: An Afro Anthology of Short Stories, co-editor of Daybreak: An Anthology of Nigerian Short Fiction and editor of the international anthology of writings, Through the Eye of a Needle: Art in the Time of Coronavirus, and The Good Teacher.

Chibundu Onuzo is an award-winning author. Her first novel,The Spider King’s Daughter, won a Betty Trask Award. It was shortlisted for the Dylan Thomas Prize and the Commonwealth Book Prize and longlisted for the Desmond Elliott Prize and the Etisalat Prize for Literature (now the 9mobile Prize).

Chidi Anselm Odinkalu is Professor of Practice in International HumanRights Law at the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy at the Tufts University in Medford, Massachusetts, USA. He is also Pro-Chancellor and Chair of the Governing Council of the Chukwuemeka Odumegwu-Ojukwu University in Igbariam, Anambra State, Nigeria. Odinkalu received his Ph.D. in law from the London School of Economics and Political Science.

Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie grew up in Nigeria. Her works have been translated into over thirty languages and have appeared in various publications including The New Yorker, Granta, The O. Henry Prize Stories, The Financial Times, and Zoetrope.

Chude Jideonwo is the host and director of #WithChude – the viral talk showand podcast speaking to Africa’s most compelling celebrities and leaders about the mind, the heart, and the spirit. He is also chief executive of the media-tech streaming platform, withChude.com, dedicated to viraldocumentaries and factual films from Africa. His first film,Awaiting Trial, was honoured for ‘Best Documentary’ at the Africa International Film Festival and the Africa Magic Viewer’s Choice Awards.

Efe Farinre (née Edebiri) is the founderof Linking Hands Foundation (LHF), a non-governmental organisation that equips today’s children to become tomorrow’s leaders by infusing them with solid education, sound health and strong values. An advocate for the total well-being of children, Efe’s work has been featured in local and international press. A burning desire ignited by her children, to preserve and share a vital part of her oral cultural heritage, inspired Efe to createFolktales are Forever.

Dr Eghosa Imasuen is the Executive Director, Business Development, Narrative Landscape Press Limited. He graduated with a 1999 medical degree from the University of Benin and worked for several years as a medical doctor. He also worked in his family’s business, which had interests in Oil and Pipeline Engineering and Finance. His first novel was published by the Farafina imprint of Kachifo Limited in 2008. Eghosa worked as Chief Operations Officer at Kachifo Limited from 2013-2016.

Erhu Kome was born and raised in the great city of Benin, Nigeria. She wenton to study medical biochemistry and genetics, a venture that has since taken a backseat in her life. Now she writes stories centred on her Urhobo tribal roots, where myth and magic come together. “Writing Urhobo characters has helped me deeply learn about the history and ways of my people,” she says. “It is important to know where we are from.”

Dr. Evans Woherem is an award-winning African technology researcher,analyst, and
writer, with expertise in fields such as Artificial Intelligence, Expert Systems, Software Engineering, Project Management, IT Strategy Planning, and banking technology. He has authored or co-authored four books and numerous academic papers. Currently, he chairs several organizations, including Digital Africa, Compumetrics Solutions Ltd, and Northlink Insurance Brokers Ltd. Dr. Woherem holds a PhD focused on the impact of Expert Systems, is a Fellow of the Nigeria Computer Society, and is an alumnus of Harvard Business School.

FEMI OTEDOLA is one of Africa’s greatest philanthropists. His role as disruptorin his country’s oil industry transformed Forte Oil Plc into one of the highest performing companies on the Nigerian Stock Exchange. In 2010 he was awarded the prestigious National Honour of “Commander of the Order of the Niger – CON” in recognition of his contributions to the growth of Nigeria’s economy and for his philanthropy.

Goretti Kyomuhendo is a leading Ugandan novelist and founding director of the African Writers Trust and TUBAZE African Books. She has published four novels, several children’s books and short stories. Goretti holds a master’s degree in creative writing from the University of KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa. She has chaired the judging panel for the Caine Prize and served as a judge for the Commonwealth Book Prize.

Hymar David grew up in Lagos and Ogun states. He wanted to be a lawyer, but, after being told “you wey dey shy to talk well” two billion times, he changed his mind and went to study English and Literature at the University of Benin. But, after a good first year and a “I don try sha” second year, he changed his mind again and decided to drop out and focus on writing stories and being the disgrace of the family, pending when him go blow come use better alert turn family favourite again.

Ike Okonta studied Sociology, Anthropology and Journalism at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, before going to the University of Oxford where he earned a doctorate in Politics. He was until recently a Leverhulme Early Career Fellow in the Department Politics in Oxford. Ike Okonta’s collection of short stories,The Fate of Yala Street, won the Association of Nigerian Authors Prose Prize.He has also been shortlisted for the Caine Prize for African Writing.

Justice Faruck (Faruq Umar Awal) is a writer and activist based in Abuja,Nigeria. His work explores silence as a social force, how it shelters harm,protects reputations, and quietly shapes the lives of women. His work, “Voices In Exile”, was shortlisted for the Narrative Against Poverty in Africa Prize 2025 and featured in their debut anthology. His debut novel,The LoudSilenceBetween Us, embodies his mission to make room for stories trained todisappear and to return voice to those who have carried them alone.

Kunle Shittu is a Poet, Writer, BrandCommunications expert and entrepreneur. Some of his poems, short stories and articles have appeared in literary journals like Sentinel Quarterly, African Writer and others. He holds a B.A in Communication & Language Arts from the University of Ibadan, Nigeria and M.A in International Communications from the University of Leeds, UK. When he is not busy writing, he loves to read, travel, teach, and catch up with history and art.Wahalais his maiden poetry collection.

Lawrence Amaeshi is an alumnus of Standford University’s prestigious creative writing programme and holds an MBA. His debut novel,Sweet Crude Odyssey, was published in 2016.Five Brown Envelopes is his second book. Lawrence is married with three children and divides his time between his homes in Lagos and London.

Lizzie Damilola Blackburn is a British-Nigerian charity worker-turned-author who grew up in south London and now lives with her husband and young son in Milton Keynes. Her debut novel, Yinka, Where is Your Huzband?, was selected by Nobel Peace Prize Laureate Malala Yousafzai as a Literati book club pick. Blackburn was also a runner-up for a Diverse Book Award (UK) in 2023. The Re-Write is her second novel.

Mamle Wolo is the award-winning author of The Kaya Girl. She studied at the University of Cambridge and the University of Lancaster in the United Kingdom and is an Honorary Fellow in Writing of the University of Iowa. She writes fiction, poetry, and screenplays and lives with her family in Accra, Ghana.

Mazi Nwonwu is the pen name of journalist and creative writer Chiagozie Nwonwu. He has a keen interest in exploring human relationships in the far future and otherworldly realms. When he’s not weaving tales of the extraordinary, Mazi can be found pursuing the truth in his journalistic endeavours. He believes that truth, both in journalism and speculative fiction, are key to balance. Mazi Nwonwu is also the co-founder ofOmenana Speculative Fiction Magazine, a platform for writers of the genre from Africa and the African diaspora. He is a keen lover of culture and tradition, which he tries to preserve through his stories.

Natasha holds an MA (distinction) in Creative Writing from Kingston University, London. Her first book, No Be from Hia, was selected as a Graywolf Africa Press finalist in 2019. Published in Zambia, the book made its way to various markets. She has served on the Afritondo and Kendeka Prize judging panels. Her short stories have featured in publications such as Hotel Africa by Short Story Day Africa, and Relations by Harper Via (US). Natasha is an N’goma Award finalist (2023) for her short story ‘Her Sweetie, Her Sugarcane’. She lives and works in Lusaka with her three incredible children.

Nduka Otiono is a Professor and Director of the Institute of African Studies, Carleton University, in Ottawa, Canada. He is the author and co-editor of several books of creative writing and academic research including Oral Literary Performance in Africa: Beyond Text (2021). Prior to turning to academia, he was for many years a journalist in Nigeria and General Secretary of the Association of Nigerian Authors.

Nikę Campbell was born in Lviv, Ukraine, and raised in Lagos, Nigeria. Her published work includes Bury Me Come Sunday Afternoon (2016), a collection of short stories, and Saro, published by Narrative Landscape Press in 2022. She won the 2023 Chinua Achebe Prize for Literature for Saro. ‘Silent Passenger’, her short story, published in the Black Diaspora Anthology (2024) was second place for Black Diaspora Award. She was a finalist for the 2018 Red Hen Press Fiction Award for her manuscript, Saro. Nikę lives in Florida with her family.

Born in Bristol, raised in Lagos, and now living in Dorset, Nikki May is Anglo-Nigerian. She ran a successful ad agency before turning to writing. Her debut novel,Wahala, was inspired by a long lunch with her friends. It is being turned into a major TV series.

Nnamdi Anyadu’s short stories explore cultural thoughts and favour character anonymity. They have been longlisted for the Afritondo Prize 2020 (The Mask and the Woman), and shortlisted for the Isele Prize 2023 (Potluck Jollof). Nnamdi is a working writer. He manages Book Boss NG, a ghostwriting and publishing services outfit in Asaba, Nigeria. He maintains a small garden at his home, and can be found there on most mornings ideating, drinking tea and feeding birds.

Obii Okwelume was born in Port Harcourtin 1981. He was educated at Madonna University, Nigeria and then at England’s London Metropolitan University, obtaining degrees in Mass Communication and International Relations, respectively. He obtained a Doctorate degree in African Studies (Media) at the Centre of West African Studies in the University of Birmingham, United Kingdom, where he won the RE Bradbury Prize in 2010 for the Best Thesis in the School of History and Cultures. Obii Okwelume also received an award from the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations in 2001 for his contributions to literature. At the time, he directed numerous plays on stage in Port Harcourt and Abuja and later, London. He currently spends his time as a writer and journalist and lives with his
family in Canada.

Ogugua Ajayi is a Nigerian contemporary fiction author, screenwriter, producer, and entrepreneur. She holds a Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of Ibadan and a master’s degree in creative writing (with distinction) from the University of Kent, United Kingdom. Ogugua began her writing journey in 2019, and her short story, ‘He Touched Me’, which explores the impact of domestic violence on mental health, was long listed for the SA Writers’ College Short Story Prize in 2020. She has since published two novellas:Blessings in the Dark and Full Circle.

Dr Olufemi Oluwatayo, a Fellow of theRoyal College of Psychiatrist, is a Consultant Psychiatrist and Medical Director at Lakeside Hospital, Wyboston, Bedfordshire, UK. He is also the President of Good Mood Charity Foundation, Nigeria, and the CEO of The Retreat Healthcare, Ikorodu, Lagos—Nigeria’s first purpose built private psychiatric hospital. Mr Martins Ifijeh is the Health Correspondent for THISDAY Newspapers, currently heading the Health Beat. He first worked with The Nation Newspapers in 2007, and then The Union Newspapers in 2013, before he joined THISDAY Newspapers in 2015.

Omo Uwaifo is an Eisenhower fellow, electrical engineer, award-winning novelist, poet and playwright.

Oyinkan Braithwaite is a Nigerian-British novelist and writer. Her first novel,MySister, The Serial Killer, was published in 2018 to wide acclaim. It was a Sunday Times bestseller, longlisted for The Booker Prize, shortlisted for the Women’s Prize for Fiction, and won the Crime and Thriller Book of the Year in the British Book Awards 2020. She lives in London

Ozoz Sokoh is a Nigerian food writer and educator. Central to her work isexploring connectedness through food, food sovereignty, cultural identity, reclamation of Nigerian cuisine, and the joy of eating. She has spoken at TEDx and at conferences hosted by the Culinary Institute of America. Her work has been featured in Brittle Paper, Smithsonian Magazine, Gastro Obscura, CNN’s African Voices, Anthony Bourdain: Parts Unknown, and other media outlets. Pede Hollist is a Professor of English at the University of Tampa and an awardwinningfiction writer. His credits includeSo the Path Does Not Die, named the2014 African Literature Association Creative Book of the Year; “Wherever Something Stands, Something Else Must Stand Beside It,” named 2023African Literature Association Best Short Story; “Foreign Aid,” shortlisted forthe 2013 Caine Prize and published in A Memory This Size and Other Stories; and “The Tale of the Three Water Carriers,” longlisted for the 2015 ShortStory Day competition and anthologised inWater: New Short Fiction from Africa. His other short stories have been published inAke Review,Matatu, andThe Price and Other Stories from Sierra Leone.

Simidele Adeagbo is a trailblazing Olympian and vital voice in leading a movement to bring about greater inclusion and gender equality in sport. In 2018, Simidele became the first Nigerian Winter Olympian and the first African and Black woman to compete in skeleton (a sport in which athletes hurl themselves headfirst on a sled down an icy hill at 80 miles an hour) at the Olympics. She has since become the first African gold medal winner at an international bobsled race and is the most decorated Nigerian and African bobsled and skeleton athlete of all time.

Suyi Davis Okungbowa is a storyteller who writes from Lagos, Nigeria. His stories have been published in Fireside, PodCastle,The Dark,StarShipSofa,Mothership Zeta,Omenana, and other places. Suyi has worked in engineering and financial audit, and now works in brand marketing, where he gets paid to tell stories. He is also associate editor at Podcastle and a charter member of the African Speculative Fiction Society.

Toni Kan is the award-winning author of critically acclaimed works of fiction and poetry, including Songs for Bar Beach (A memorial in verse), The Carnivorous City, Nights of the Creaking Bed, and When a Dream Lingers Too Long. He has also ghost-written ten biographies. A fellow of the Heinrich Boll Writing Fellowship (Germany), Civitella Ranieri Writing Fellowship (Italy), and Yaddo Writing Fellowship (USA), his works have appeared in Agni, Wasafiri, Sentinel, Eleven-Eleven, BBC and the Financial Times. He is a 2021 recipient of the Global Talent Visa in the Exceptional Talent Category. His awards include the Saro Wiwa/NDDC Prose Prize, Prof. Wole Soyinka Award for Literature, MUSON Poetry Prize, Liberty Short Stories prize, and Swiss Radio Essay Competition prize. Kan is working on
a novel, The Devil Got Up to Drink Water.

Uche Okonkwo’s stories have been published in A Public Space, One Story, The Kenyon Review, Ploughshares, The Best American Nonrequired Reading 2019, and Lagos Noir, among others. A former Bernard O’Keefe Scholar at Bread Loaf Writers’ Conference and resident at Art Omi, she is a recipient of the George Bennett Fellowship at Phillips Exeter Academy, a Steinbeck Fellowship, and an Elizabeth George Foundation grant. Okonkwo grew up in Lagos, Nigeria, and is currently pursuing a creative writing PhD at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.

Véronique Tadjo is an author, artist and visiting Professor at the University of the Witwatersrand in Johannesburg, South Africa. She holds a doctorate in Black American Literature and Civilization from the Sorbonne in Paris, and was a Fulbright Scholar at Howard University in Washington, DC. Most of her novels have been translated into English and many other languages, and her work has won acclaim, along with several literary awards. 

Victoria Afe Inegbedion loves the smell ofbrand-new books so naturally, she owns a bookshop (much like the one from where you probably got this one). She endeavours to give each book a sniff from time to time. Victoria lives with her family made up of husband, daughter and son. But when she was a child, she lived with a sister and she always wanted to share her experiences with the world. This book, however, is NOT autobiographical. At least not all of it.A-Filesis her first children’s book.

Wole Soyinka became the first African to receive a Nobel Prize for Literature in 1986. In the late 1950s, he wrote his first important play, A Dance of the Forests, satirising the Nigerian political elite. In 1960, he was awarded a Rockefeller fellowship. In 1964, he founded the Orisun Theatre Company, in which he produced his own plays and performed as an actor. Through his works of fiction, poetry, plays and mostly non-fiction, Soyinka has documented the struggles of his homeland Nigeria, the African continent and the world at large.

Wunmi Adelusi is a Chartered Accountantand Finance Specialist who is passionate about promoting stability, compliance, and integrity in the financial sector. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Accounting from Covenant University, Nigeria and a master’s degree (with distinction) in Accounting and Finance from the University of Leeds, UK. She also holds an MBA in Financial Management. She is an expert in Finance and Risk Based Supervision, and currently serves as a Bank Examiner in the financial services industry. Prior to her current position, she worked as a Business Development Manager at a Private Accounting Firm where she led the team that audited Nigeria’s biggest political party in 2015. She was equally responsible for deploying strategies that increased the revenue collected by the firm on behalf of Copyright Society of Nigeria (COSON) by 30% in 2015. Adelusi represented Nigeria at the Africa Training Institute of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) in Mauritius and is the founder of an online
community of millennial employees (@themillennialemployee on Instagram) where she shares information that encourages them to thrive in their careers. She also loves to volunteer and has worked in the past with Helping Other People Excel (HOPE), a teen-focused national NGO. She is an Associate of Women in Management, Business and Public Service (WIMBIZ).

Yejide Kilanko was born in Ibadan, Nigeria. She writes novels, short fiction, poetry, and children’s picture books. Kilanko’s 2012 debut novel,DaughtersWho Walk This Path, was longlisted for the Nigeria Literature Prize. Her short fiction, “This Tangible Thing”, was shortlisted for the 2023 Caine Prize. Her latest children’s picture book,The Other Side of Small, was published in 2024

Yewande Daniel-Ayoade is a Nigerian-Canadian author who was inspired to write this book by her children’s love for princesses. When she is not working as a management consultant, Yewande can be found cooking, baking, singing or playing board games. Yewande lives in Calgary, Alberta, with her husband and five children.

Yvonne Orji is an Emmy-nominated Nigerian-American actress, writer, andcomedian. A failed doctor (blame organic chemistry), Yvonne took to comedy after needing a talent for a beauty pageant. Now, she entertains international audiences. She currently resides in Los Angeles.

Zainab Uche Imam is a Nigerian writer, born and raised in Lagos.
